Yesterday I went to this lecture with a german friend. It's about two actresses reading passages from authors of east or west germany who told their stories about what they did the night of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The lecture took place in a very comfortable auditorium in galerie colbert. I was surprised to see the enthusiasm of the public at the session of debate before our lecture. It's a topical debate about ;what can be translated, in which four scholars were invited to share their opinions with the audience. I would think this is a rather theoretical and philosophical issue yet the debate was free and open to the public.
Our session was beautifully presented by the graceful actresses, who took turn to read the passages in German and French. Although I don't understand everyword of the stories, the sentiments of the German people towards this great political change started to move me. It's no longer just some historical event but a reality.
The lecture was followed by one of the actresses singing two little tunes in German. I can't remember what the first one was about but the second one was about the cloud and the sun. The piano accompaniment was very suitable. The tune reminds me of a tune of Schubert.
